The book before the book. Every day in October, the Not Quite Omniscient Narrator foretells one day of November, the month Self-Referential Metanovel Writing for D*mmies, Smarties and Silicon Compadres gets written. It will be wrong about some of it. That is the plan.

They could write fifty thousand words before lunch, so this number proves nothing. Watch the one on the left.
The original book's second chapter is called What Is NaNoWriMo? The answer was National Novel Writing Month: fifty thousand words, starting after midnight on November 1.
NaNoWriMo closed on March 31, 2025. That was six months after a public fight over its statement on AI in writing. The book's only link, nanowrimo.org, now forwards to an empty page. So the chapter has changed its tense.
The tradition carries on without it, most visibly in Novel November.
NaNoWriMo ended arguing about whether words written with AI should count. Here they count separately and in the open. Every paragraph below says who wrote it, and every AI paragraph says which model wrote it.
